i meant that i've seen a lot of people here post their PTCL 512k speedtest and it shows they get 7-800kbps. Its not the case with LDN or MBL which i've used. Why is that?

bravo to PTCL customer support. I lodged my complaint at 2pm. Got a call just now at 5 and problem resolved.
I also got my DSL within 2 days of applying.

PTCL just treating their customers with a lil extra bandwidth i guess. Even with a 1 Mbps connection, normally considering all the overheads, you should get a speedtest of about 800-850Kbps, but with PTCL you get about 1100-1200Kbps average.

i know. but on direct downloads i get 55kb/sec but in speedtests i get 1.5Mbps. I just dont understand the logic behind that. Speedtests calculate speed based on direct download.

i think they have set up speed bursting, which initially bursts data throughputs higher than the alloted bandwidth, hence skewing the speed test results..

procedure for port forwarding
go to this page and select your modem from the list of modem:

and now select the software you want to forward posts for and then follow the guide

has anyone noticed that youtube videos load wierdly on PTCL. Like if i am viewing, it will stop for buffering, the speed goes at 200kb/sec and then the video resumes during which no more video gets downloaded. then it buffers again, speed goes to 200kb/sec and video loads.

1. How is the DSL working nowadays.. My relatives are all using PTCL and they are very happy with their service and connection

2. Does PTCL DSL suffers from any malfunctions or syncronization during the day.

3. Are all package without caps..

i'm currently using Maxcom's Home 256k but PTCL is providing 512k for the same price and with some positive reviews i'm tempted to switch... will it be a good idea.

the packages are unlimited but if your phoneline is faulty then you can have some real problems
